Abule-Egba pipeline explosion victims after a 4-week training, graduate today, having acquired necessary skills and vocation in several crafts as part of their preparation for reintegration back to the society.

The 4-week training conducted by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in partnership with LASEMA, was also another step by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration to point them in the appropriate direction for proper utilization of their funds ease them back into the society and enable them win bread for their various families easily.

The 4-week training has enabled them acquire requisite skills and fiscal knowledge in different vocations which included Soap making, Batik/Tie-dye, Hairdressing, Fabric design, Ankara Craft, Throw Pillow, Event Decoration, Catering, Stonning and Make-up/Gele-Tying, started 15th June, 2020 terminating today, after their 6 months sojourn in LASEMA’s Igando relief camp where their psychological, physiological and mental well being had been catered to by the state government from 22nd January this year after the ghastly fire incident at Abule-Egba.

Today’s occasion follows the occasion where the 300 beneficiaries got between N150,000 and N250,000 which was part of the agency’s responsibilities in providing relief materials and financial assistance to victims of various disasters in the state. A responsibility the DG LASEMA Dr. Olufemi Oke–Osanyintolu said the agency was happy to fulfil in keeping with the promises made by the administration of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“The financial assistance, coupled with the skill acquisition and vocational training programme were carried out for the total benefit of victims accommodated at the Igando Relief Camp in sync with holistic plans of the Lagos State Government towards easy reintegration of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) back into the society”.
