Badagry Council Chairman Receives COVID-19 Vaccine

Mr Olusegun Onilude, the Chairman of Badagry Local Government, on Monday received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Speaking to the newsmen shortly after receiving the vaccine during the flag off of the programme at Ajara Primary Health Centre, Onilude urged people in Badagry to key into the exercise.
“I have just partook in the exercise now, since we have been adequately educated on this vaccine which I have just taken.

“I implore all residents of Badagry to partake in the exercise. The experts in the health sector have assured us that there is no side effects to it.
“Prevention is better than cure,” he said.

He urged the people of the coastal town to continue to abide with COVID-19 guidelines.
“Let us continue to use our nose mask, wash our hands and observe social distancing,” he said.

Commenting on the exercise, Dr Michael Ariyibi, the council’sChief Medical Officer, said it was a successful exercise for the first citizen of the council to start the exercise.
“For the chairman to come out with his team to receive the vaccine, this shows that he has confidence in it.
“He also believe that the pandemic is deadly and it has to be prevented,” he said.

Ariyibi said that the flag-off exercise was for the health workers, adding that the council had three different centres where those who qualify would receive the vaccine. (NAN)
