Mr Olusesan Daini, the Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Developmental Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, on Friday advised residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drains.

Daini said in Ikorodu that it was imperative for the residents of the area to know that the dumping of refuse in drains could lead to flooding and erosion in their communities.

According to him, reducing the effect of flood in the community should be the collective responsibility of all.

“The council’s environmental sanitation team has been creating flood safety awareness from community to community to sensitise residents on how to be environment-friendly during this rainy season.

“The first priority of my administration is to ensure the protection of lives and property and that’s why the council is always proactive in its activities,’’ he said in a statement.

Daini expressed his administration’s commitment to the construction of a good drainage system that would ensure free flow of water.

He added that this way, the effects of flood would be mitigated in the communities.

He commended the residents for their continued support and cooperation with his administration, urging them to continue to be partners in progress with the council.
