The Lagos State Government has commissioned a five-bed ward at the Somolu General Hospital with a charge to all healthcare workers to be more committed and diligent towards improved service delivery.
In his address at the commissioning, the Chairman, Health Service Commission (HSC) Lagos State, Dr. Atinuke Onayiga, commended the impressive achievements of the leadership of the General Hospital, especially in infrastructure development.
She stated that the Medical Director/CEO of the Hospital, Dr. Saliu Oseni, and his team, has recorded several notable success in less than six months of assumption and that she is very happy to felicitate with them on the commissioning of the newly built Five-Bed Ward while looking forward to more accomplishments in future.
She, however, implored all members of staff of the Somolu General Hospital, particularly medical workers and healthcare providers, to take out time to relax and allow for renewal of the mind in order to achieve all set goals and objectives.
Earlier, the Medical Director/CEO, General Hospital, Somolu, Dr. Saliu Oseni, said his accomplishments so far are primarily due to the remarkable work of his predecessors, especially the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu for keeping the hospital operational despite all challenges.
He said, in order to perform their duties and meet set objectives, one of the first of many changes the management decided on was to increase the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) which has led to the construction of the newly completed five-bed space ward being commissioned.
The Managing Director added that success has also been recorded in making the overall hospital experience for patients seamless through consolidating the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and building more comfortable waiting areas, adding that staff welfare has not been left out as the workforce was recently treated to reward packages during the festive period.
Dignitaries present at the event include Health Commission I, Dr. Olumuyiwa Adetokunbo Solanke; Health Commissioner II, Dr. Mobolaji Ayotunde Olukoya; Health Commissioner IV, Mrs. Kemi Ogunyemi and Permanent Secretary, HSC, Dr. Benjamin Ademuyiwa Eniayewun among others.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding members of staff and retirees of the Somolu General Hospital.
