The President, Lagos State Cooperative Federation, Mr Oriyomi Ayeola, has called on the Lagos State Government to extend the date for its organisation’s congress by two months to enable it to plan effectively.
A statement by LASCOFED on Tuesday said the president made the request when officials of the Lagos State Government paid a visit to LASCOFED in Lagos.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected major activities in our cooperative movement. Therefore, we appeal to the Lagos State Government for additional two months to plan our exit adequately and a post-COVID-19 stimulus fund to assist the cooperative sector to recover from the economic effects of the pandemic and lockdown.
“We believe the fund will alleviate some of the effects and consequences of the pandemic towards our members who most likely have been dislodged from their places of work and some whose salaries are being withheld.”
