The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State chapter has set up peace and reconciliation committees that will meet with aspirants, members and stakeholders in the state to resolve the issues arising from the last local councillorship and chairmanship primary election.
The state APC spokesperson, Mr Seye Oladejo, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the committees would be inaugurated on Friday at the APC Secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja.
The statement reads partly, “In order to engender cohesion, peace and unity in our party, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has constituted peace and reconciliation committees to meet with party leaders, aspirants, members and other relevant stakeholders in the state over issues emanating from the local government primary elections.”
The statement explained that the four committees comprised seven members each, adding that the one for the Lagos West Senatorial District 1 would be chaired by Mr Abiodun Ogunleye; while the Lagos West Senatorial District 2 would be chaired by Senator Anthony Adefuye.
It further stated that the committees for Lagos East Senatorial District and Lagos Central Senatorial District would be chaired by Tajudeen Olusi and Rabiu Oluwa respectively.
Recall that there had been protests over alleged imposition of candidates by members and party leaders in the councils in the aftermath of the primary elections.
