The Chairman, Odogbolu Heritage Festival, Kunle Adegbite, has immortalised his mother, Chief Florence Odunuyi, who died Feb. 11, 2020 and buried July 2, 2020 in Odogbolu town, Ogun.
Adegbite said in a statement on Sunday that the family had launched a foundation on July 3 in honour of the deceased who was a philanthropist during her lifetime.
He noted that the foundation called: `Florence Folake Foundation’ would provide basic and essential needs like palliatives, basic school items and tools to the primary targets.
He said this would also assist the less privileged, aged, infants and the vulnerable members of the society with special emphasis on Odogbolu town and its environs.
According to him, the foundation would help in communal self-development and embark on projects relevant to its core mission.
“The foundation will engage government both at state and local levels in ways of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
“My mother of blessed memory was a philanthropist who truly believed that the essence of life itself lies in impacting on lives of others. I am a living witness to her numerous acts of kindness, philanthropy, assistance and cheerful giving.
“Her possessions were not by any standard extraordinary but within her limited means. Countless testimonies abound when she will offer her usual assistance to the needy even when she wasn’t buoyant.
“She bears a heart of gold just like her namesake (Florence Nightingale) and by God’s grace, this foundation will continue to give life to her aspirations even in death,” Adegbite said.
