  • What are the objectives of Moppet?

We are tackling the problem of malnutrition in African children by introducing varieties of rich fruits, grains, and vegetables in every pack of our meals.

We launched Moppet because we were fed up with the lack of fresh, natural, and convenient children’s meal options.

Eating natural and healthy food has no secret, we all know what it has on all of us. The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison. But in today’s world of busyness where is the time to get hold of that?

We believe you shouldn’t have to choose between what’s healthy for your kiddo and what’s easy for you. So, Moppet packing of all the natural porridge mix is our way of giving you the win-win alternative that we know parents need and deserve right now.

You can now focus on your work, while we take up the job of providing your little ones with fresh, natural, nutritious, and enjoyable meals.

  • How is Moppet different from other brands?

Ecofriendly production: The industrialised way of producing cereals removes grain flavours, drastically reduces nutritional value, and eliminates things that make grains unique. We think this is not healthy. Our production process involves an eco-friendly method that produces nutritionally superior cereal powder that sustains the original colour and taste in every pack.

Organic: All our products are made with naturally grown grains free from harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers and mixtures excluding sugar, concentrates, preservatives and artificial colouring.

  • Can you tell us some of the nutritional values of Moppet?

Moppet variants are formulated through clinically researched formulas to cover children’s basic nutritional needs.  The products are made from naturally grown grains with no added sugar, colouring, preservatives, flavour or chemicals. They are developed by certified child nutritionists and experts in pediatric nutrition to ensure safety, efficacy, and the highest quality.

  • Many mothers prefer imported feeds for their children, what is Moppet doing to convince them to patronise locally-made products?

We are reaching out to them in the digital media space to take the natural solution to them.  Most foreign products are not natural and a few other natural ones use GMO crops, but ours are natural, fresh, and organic products, which are nutritious and tasty.

  • The economy is harsh, what is Moppet doing to ensure low-income earners are not left out?

Initially, when we started, we had only 500gs, because of the harsh reality the of economy, we have introduced the 300gs and 100gs packs respectively so that low-income earners can afford the nutritious products.

  • Can you take us through some of the health benefits of taking Moppet?

Moppet range of cereals has nutrients that are important for growth, development, and learning; because babies and toddlers need foods from all five healthy food groups – vegetables, fruit, grain foods, dairy, and protein, and this is what we offer in every pack of Moppet.

Each of these food groups has different nutrients, which your child’s body needs to grow and work properly. That’s why we need to feed them a range of foods from across all five food groups, not just grains alone, or fruits alone.

  • How has Moppet survived despite insecurity affecting raw materials scarcity?

It is difficult but it is something we envisage, so we plan ahead of time, we did not start from production, we started from the farm, we own farms in a lot of places in Nigeria, we have grain farms in the North and fruits farms in the West, we own fishing businesses in the South where we work directly with fishermen who process fish for us directly from waters. We also partner with farmers across the country directly. So, while scarcity is a thing and insecurity, we have managed to survive with proper planning and forecasting.

  • What are some of the challenges you are facing?

Power is a huge challenge as we have to generate our own electricity most of the time and diesel is at an all-time high. Another very big challenge is that we do not have access to forex to purchase some equipment we need.

  • How can Moppet help to fight children’s malnourishment?

We are tackling the problem of malnutrition in African children by introducing varieties of rich fruits, grains, and vegetables in every pack of our meals.

  • What is your advice to mothers in choosing a food solution for their kids?

Parents need to look beyond the known names and foreign tags to pick up nutritious and rich meals made with the five groups of healthy food for their children, one that is without any artificial sugar, additive, or preservative.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) policy, “Food Additives and Child Health,” explains that a rising number of studies suggest some food additives may interfere with hormones, growth, and development Some may also raise a child’s risk of obesity. Children may be particularly susceptible to the effects of these additives, given that they have more exposure than adults due to their size and dietary intake.

When we talk about malnutrition in children, most parents think only children in rural areas are malnourished, but the truth is a lot of children from urban cities with richer parents also suffer malnutrition and obesity because of wrong food choices. That is why we are asking them to make the right choice by choosing Moppet for their children and toddlers.

  • What does a child stand to benefit from taking Moppet?

By giving your children Moppet, you are sure they are getting the essential and diverse meals from the 5 groups of healthy food that their body needs, meals that contain protein, calcium for growth and development, Fruit and vegetables for energy, vitamins, antioxidants, fibre and water. These nutrients help to protect your baby from diseases later in life, including diseases like heart disease, stroke and some cancers. Our cereal range is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a major building block of the brain.
